The Friends of Williton War Memorial Recreation Ground
was formed in the summer of 2007 as an informal lobby group of Williton residents.

Our intentions are to protect the Memorial Ground in its present form as a traffic free recreation space for the continuing enjoyment of residents of all ages and to guard against any inappropriate development on the Ground.

Williton is a large village situated in West Somerset close to the coast of the Bristol Channel, the Quantock Hills, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor. It has a population of almost 3000 persons and is the administrative centre for West Somerset Council.

The War Memorial Recreation Ground, often referred to as The Rec, is the only public open space in Williton large enough for football and other sports or for events such as the summer fête.
